Support for ID Software's WAD2 files is also included. Maximum entries per PACK/WAD2 file = 4003 -- New Features -------------------------------------------------------------- Added File/Open menu command Added Entry/Export PAK menu command -- Usage --------------------------------------------------------------------- Type : PAKMAN.EXE Note : need not be an existing PAK file. PAKman can make new PAK files as well as modifying old ones. -- The Interface ------------------------------------------------------------- Inside the main window is a list of all the files contained in the current PAK file. Browse the list using the up and down arrow keys on your keyboard. The status bar on the bottom line of the screen shows all the functions that the program can perform at the touch of a key. The text in red is the name of the key or key combination that you should use to activate the desired function. There is also a menu bar at the top of the screen, to pull down a menu press ALT and the highlighted shortcut key. For example - to bring down the FILE menu, press ALT and F at the same time. Access to all the program's functions is given through the menu system. Note : use Space bar to select a file in the list. -- Adding Files -------------------------------------------------------------- There are 2 ways to add files to a PAK file using PAKman. 1) Add a single file to add a single file to a PAK file using PAKman, press the INSERT key on your keyboard. Type in the name of the file that you want to add and press eg. progs.dat (or) config.cfg (or) progs\player.mdl You will notice that the file has been added to the list in the centre of the screen. 2) Add a tree Adding a tree is the same as adding an entire directory of files. To add a tree to a PAK file using PAKman, press the F4 key on your keyboard. Now, type in the name of the directory that you want to add. Note : PAKman adds all subdirectories aswell. eg. "." (or) "progs\" (or) "maps" (without quotes) note : you need not put a "\" (backslash) on the end of the directory name, PAKman will add one if you left it out. You will now notice that the bottom line of the screen tells you the name of the file being added. Pakman also alphabetizes the list of files when you add a tree. -- Extracting Files ---------------------------------------------------------- To extract files, either move the scrollbar over the file you want to extract , or select the files you want to extract using the space bar. Then press F2. Note : files are extracted with their paths, even if the required directories don't exist. eg. "sounds\player\death.voc" would create the directory "SOUNDS" under the current directory, aswell as the directory "player" under that. creating "death.voc" inside. -- Bugs ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Please E-Mail me (archimax@icon.co.za) with any bug reports!
