Author Info : AKA "Dick S. Long" Description : everybody always followed the adventures of That Lone Space Marine - from his first encounter with hell on the Phobos moon, to the many and diverse quests set out for him. But what if he had a wife? What about all the soldiers' wives that were left alone at home waiting for their men? What if after months of endless waiting they finally decided to go out in the dark looking for their husbands and then embraced the cause against hell, effectively joining the fight? My rationale: ------------ After a bit of experimentation with "Parallel Forces", I am now back to a more linear and traditional weapons modification, that more or less follows "The Prototype" in terms of aesthetics, inspiration and gameplay. The peculiarity here resides on the tweaks implemented in many weapons' alternate fire. Also, this may be my last modification in a while... DISCLAIMER: again, this modification is -not- a ripfest. Most of the DECORATE weapons behaviour has been written from scratch, and so have the original sprites been altered more or less heavily, depending on the case. Modification details: -------------------- Weapons: slot 1: ..:: Dark Claws ::.. The mythical and magical weapon coming from the DOOM Bible. Once worn, these claws can blend seamlessly with the bearer's arms and mutate his or her voice into a beastly growl. Each successful claw slash returns a fraction of the drained opponent health to the attacker. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ slot 2: ..:: BioForce ::.. Extremely-portable 9-gauge handgun, boasts an excellent combination of power and rate (though only semiautomatic). Sports a peculiar small-scale laser cannon attachment, which is fueled through a bionic implant; this one generates a powerful, potentially-ripping laser ray at the expense of a single health point per shot. +++ 20 rounds. Requires reload. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ slot 3: ..:: Phaser ::.. A versatile pump-action shotgun that exposes a multi-stage firing mechanism. Additional shells can be pumped inside the barrel at once, up to a maximum of 5. When the trigger is pressed, all loaded shells are fired at once - when fully loaded, this toy becomes almost twice as devastating than a traditional double-barreled, breach-loading shotgun. +++ 10 rounds. Requires reload. ..:: Ferengi ::.. The best encounter between ancient weaponry and modern technology, this versatile weapon is quite rare to find, yet always rewards its collector with its peculiarities. Basically, a crossbow that's adaptable to launch three different kinds of projectiles (switchable via alternate fire): + Precision Bolts are a sniper's dream: accurate and infinitely fast. They make this weapon the best for stealth and marksman tactics. + Incendiary Quarrels exploit a small-scale, white-phosporus-based explosion to turn imps and former humans into piles of charred meat. Using them on crowds allows for 'burn transmission' and therefore gives the best price/performance ratio. + Paralyzer Needles can heavily impair the movement abilities of almost any monster for a handful of seconds. The poor bastard is rendered absolutely unable to move or attack, then ready for you to finish it. Add to all this that you get a light-amplified scope bundled with this baby, and you almost scream out for perfection. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ slot 4: ..:: Mosquito ::.. As the new generation assault rifle equipping UAC troops, 'Mosquito' is fueled through satchels of special spherical, lead-plated bullets that bounce around a couple times before... Implanting. The primary fire mode allows to slowly unload one whole magazine bolt by bolt, with greater pains in terms of recoil/accuracy. An alternate firing mode allows to let out a burst of three with lesser power yet greater penetration, also by activating a balancer that effectively nulls the recoil. +++ 45 rounds. Requires reload. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ slot 5: ..:: R.A.P.E. ::.. Explosive portables taken to the next level: the Remote-Assisted Propeller Engine is an RPG, yet with a twist. The primary standard fire linearly propels a so-called missile capsule, that travels in a straight line and explodes upon first contact, dealing approximately 1.5 damage with respect to standard rocket damage. But the real treat is the remote commanding function. Let one capsule fly ahead, then activate the release signal: the capsule deflagrates with a minor blow, letting out four seeker missiles that hunt for targets around. A spectacular way of clearing entire areas. +++ 5 rounds. Requires reload. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ slot 6: ..:: Plasmatron ::.. Although many UAC researchers even denied the existence of prototypes for long time during development, the Plasmatron is now reality. A high-class energy submachinegun, it is fueled by ultra- heated plasma - the ammunition nature alone allows for high-rate, extremely powerful hitscan attacks. Nevertheless, the weapon owes its name to the secondary fire mode: with expense of a greater portion of its plasma clip, the device can generate a stream of pulsating plasma (also called 'lightcycle') that effectively creates a devastating energy barrier of limited duration. +++ 55 rounds. Requires reload. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ slot 7: ..:: Unmaker ::.. The mysterious hellish weapon, feared by hellspawn themselves - and with good reason. When used alone, the thing fiercely bites the air around, causing mayhem to any opponent. But when a Rune Of Rage is acquired, its reach and power even increase: and the weakest weaklings have their souls ripped away and turned into terrible servants. Items and powerups: ..:: Bot Marine Helper (carriable) A teleportation call module for special reinforcements designed by UAC, takes the shape of a miniature bot. When correctly deployed on the ground, it teleports a marine in a battlemech equipped with a high-rate machinegun and a seeker missile launcher. Upon explosion, the pilot may survive and manage to jump down, to offer his final services with a standard-issue assault rifle. ..:: Hourglass Of Hell (instant activation) This devilish artifact can let you control the flow of time for a few seconds, by freezing anything except its invoker. This may open up a precious occasion to place some determining blows and deliver death even when you thought it would have been impossible. ..:: Rune Of Rage (instant activation) Instances of this rune were created to increase the power of the Unmaker with soul-stealing capabilities. With a rageing Unmaker against many former humans, you may be able to rip their souls and enslave them to fight on your side. G A D G E T S ; I N C L U D E D . ___________________________________ This addon enhances the base gameplay provided by rslredux.wad by enabling an item trading system within the regular quests. Enemies suffering a violent death shall grant you a certain amount of UAC Base Currency units. These units might be spent once a UAC Trader is found - he can be interacted with using the Action Key. Once in talks, follow the on-screen instructions to navigate the trading menu and evaluate / buy available items (medicals / armour / ammunition / gadgets), but consider that during such moments you are left defenseless against any attack. You can also resell certain items, but they will not give you back what you originally spent for them... :-/ Also, try to avoid attacking the trader himself, or he will fire back! What follows is a list of the special inventory items provided by this addon: ..:: Medicals -Enhanced Medikit: grants 50 health points. -Vitaminic Injection: increases the health level to 200 points. -Stamina Support Upgrade: increases the regular health level maximum by 10 points, and replenishes it; can be used for a maximum of five times. ..:: Armour -Heavy Armor: grants 100 armour points for 50% protection factor. -Titanium Armor: grants 300 armour points for 100% protection factor. -Active Shielding Armor: grants 500 armour points for 100% protection factor. -Armor Support Upgrade: increases the regular armour level maximum by 10 points, and replenishes it; can be used for a maximum of five times. ..:: Electric Mine Layer (carriable) A special unit that - when deployed - releases a number of electroshocking seeker mines that easily paralyze targets around. Useful for ambushes on medium-sized groups. ..:: Flaming Buoy (carriable) When activated, this unmovable turret releases a rotating stream of fire for a good amount of time - very effective when attracting fire-affected monsters into narrow passageways. ..:: Missile Pod (carriable) A pod like this can quickly emit a few streams of heatseekers once armed. These prove to be a game changer in large, sniper-covered areas that need to be dealt with in short time. Make sure it has enough vertical room for the missiles to launch. ..:: Sentry Gun (carriable) Each round of this autoaiming minigun turret is quite weak, but the impressive rate of fire and short operation delay make it a valid ally - even as stunlocking sidekick - against mighty foes anyway. ..:: Somersault Mine (carriable) The perfect trap-enabler - set one of these, and when a dangerous target just comes close, the mine projects itself into the air, exploding with a shockwave. ..:: Summon Hellfire (carriable) Military reports from returning soldiers have mentioned the existence of this hellish artifact, often carried around by ArchViles. Nobody has ever managed to get hold *and* make actual use of one of them, at least up to now. ..:: Shielding Engine (carriable) A brilliant warfare engineering product from UAC, this engine manages to convert the carrier's armor coverage into an indestructible full-body shield, thus offering key protection in case of dire mission specifics. Unfortunately, most of the supplies have been ravaged by the forces of Hell, so that these facilities can now only be obtained with brute force from the highest-ranked (and equipped) among former-human soldiers. ..:: Portable Stamina Supplier (carriable) This device offers a portable, gradually-released stamina pool that can be activated and deactivated at will. Once exhausted, the pool can anyway be carried around and eventually refilled, although details on how to obtain replenishing supplies are unclear at the moment. ..:: Dwarver (instant activation) This biotechnological artifact came out from UAC labs almost by accident - originally conceived to reduce the volume of large mineral chunks obtained from Phobos mining for interplanetary transportation needs, it has been since tried many times on human beings with surprising results. Among its effects are - beyond the reduced body size - also an highly-increased speed, and the inability to carry or pick up anything with significant weight. Be it good or bad, the whole effect does not last long. ..:: Berserker Orb (instant activation) Curious hellish artifacts seldom released by implings upon death, these look like small, gnarling reddish orbs. Absorbing one of them immediately grants a slight stamina increase, but also adrenaline-like effects for a few seconds: increased attack power and pain resilience. ..:: Fusee (carriable) A portable flare that can be used to light up dark areas. It is virtually inextinguishable within the timespan of a single mission level. R E - E Q U I P P E D _____________________ This addon partially replaces the original weaponset of She-Redux to offer more of the legendary Zen Dynamics arsenal. The main character comes also equipped with three different HUDs for better immersion, a brand new gore system ('Universal Gibs' by Accensus), a special system for the fine-tuning of character movement ('QuakeMove' by dodopod), and a very specific gauge-shaped viewer for the health status of major foes - AKA "bosses" ('Boss Health Bar' by Rip n Tear). Another nice addition is a liquid surfaces warper based on the Voronoi shader, courtesy of RiboNucleic Asshat / Tucker Matous. The resulting arsenal is: Slot 1: Silent Fist - a basic, smooth melee attack that does not alert nearby enemies. Can be used most effectively to sneak upon unsuspecting former humans. Dark Claws - . Slot 2: Viper - the starting servo-assisted revolver from Zen Dynamics, does not lose its usefulness even after acquiring a shotgun because of its generous power. The alternate fire discharges all bullets left in the loader, and represents a perfect finisher for mid-tier foes. Slot 3: Phaser - . Ferengi - . Slot 4: Stinger - a revised rendition of the Zen Dynamics assault rifle, this beast has a good fire rate and a generous magazine. The alternate attack has been modified to exploit the same primary ammunition reserve, and is able to erupt a slow spread of piercing flak that bounces off floors and walls. Slot 5: R.A.P.E. - . Slot 6: Aeolus - once again a legendary addition from Zen Dynamics, this duo of plasma submachineguns sports an impressive hitscan fire rate and makes the difference during the toughest fights. The secondary firing function has been modified also in their case: here two concentrated plasma streams can be projected, so that they do fragment into a large number of particles once hitting the first solid surface. Best used in close environments. Slot 7: Unmaker - . MarineMate (R) - this emergency device is tipically left behind by fallen comrades, and is so powerful that it does not help in understanding how could they fall in the first place! When activated, the device multiplicates a number of material holographic marine projections by sending all them outwards in an entropic, heavily chaotic fashion; doing so that they intelligently explode upon contact with the enemy, causing enormous amounts of damage. The weapon is mostly safe in open environments, where the backlash of explosions can be more easily avoided. Enhancers: as of release #8++, the 'Re-equipped' addon sports the following: * 'CrosshairHP' by Tekish: optionable foe stamina scanner attached to crosshair. * 'Ultimate Classic Minimap' by Redxone: enhanced automap analysis tool with extra metadata and configurable markers. * 'Gearbox' by m8f: circular-shaped quick access menu for arsenal and inventory control. T R A N S P A T I A L _____________________ Teega M'Arrazzo-Phukhet Phessa is an unconventional space soldier. Always divided between two different personalities, unsure of her (or should we say, his?) gender, T. has finally found the right way to live serenely with such a kind of persona by enrolling in the UAC spatial terraforming missions, and fighting what ensued afterwards. She decided to do so for the protection of mankind as a whole, regardless of gender distinctions! Incredibly enough - even if in the middle of interdimensional warfare, but very far away from all those that never understood - she finally found peace after all. Demons don't care - as long as you're a slayer in their fierce eyes. This addon overhauls the base modification in terms of system, effects and arsenal, to give a slightly overpowered-yet-glorious edge to combat. Arsenal: ------- 1. 'PowerThrust' embedded emergency measure ------------- Dubbed your "embedded emergency measure", this enhanced, technological glove is a very efficient melee weapon. Its thrust can be quickly charged to deliver a serious blow and put down something like an imp at once; or it can be thrown immediately for faster jabs at the opponent. When Berserk is acquired, the power of each attack greatly improves. Its alternate fire is a wholly different story: the gauntlet is able to reconvert armor energy into an holographic material projection, sending out a so-called "HoloHammer" projectile - once it touches the floor, one heavy lightning strike is generated, and multiple hammer lookalikes start flying around the point of impact, sweeping away everything in their path. 'EgoWinder' tactically-enhanced titanium boomerang ----------- Apparently an old and outdated ranged tool, the "EgoWinder" is in fact a totally-renewed rendition of the boomerang. Extremely light and sharp, it can be used to strike enemies at range, without alerting any creature nearby. More than that, it is able to recollect any item in sight that lays in unreachable positions! When nine instances of the boomerang are collected, T. can perform an ancient Ninjutsu survival technique that consists in rethrowing all nine of them multiple times, to generate a massive amount of damage ahead - while all instances get expended in the process, this attack can prove strategical in front of large hordes or major demons. 2. 'BioForce++' dual-mode handgun ------------ The starting handgun of the original set has been aesthetically overhauled, but its primary firepower has also been increased; this comes at the expense of magazine size, which is now reduced to 14 rounds. With this new balance, this firearm offers good support in dispatching low-to-mid-tier opponents; the new shotgun offering is similarly increased in power, but heavily nerfed in terms of magazine size - see below. 3. 'SxS' modern double barreled ----- An old concept that has been modernized very effectively: this summarizes the essence of this double-barreled, breach-loading shotgun that offers an unrivaled power-per-round ratio, and still decent accuracy when fired single-barrel. The double barrel slam provides also a beneficial side effect: the target is thrusted away pretty violently! Its only true weak point is represented by reloading: at least every two shells a refill is needed, and it is not the fastest one could ask for. 4. 'HAR11' tactical assault rifle ------- This is a bulky rapid fire repeater with a generous magazine capacity of 50 rounds; ammo should be fairly abundant for it. The alternate fire mode also deserves a special mention: fed by a particular kind of loader, it launches six "Drunk Missiles" all at once. These are quite aptly named, since they start their flight erratically and jerkily outwards, only to converge into one auto-detected target shortly after. This secondary firing function is especially effective agaist small groups of cannon-fodder hostiles, or as a finisher for one mightier target. 5. 'Gizmo' versatile missile pod ------- The current arsenal offers a number of technologically-revolutionized examples, and "Gizmo" is surely one of them. It is labeled as a "pod" rather than a "launcher", since it is actually much more complex than that. Its primary fire offers an auto-targeting HUD view, and lets the wielder dispatch one tracker missile at a time; after a short deployment arc, the latter propels forward and seeks for a reachable target within the wielder's field of view. The alternare fire mode is a totally different beast, though. After having reached a safe cover spot on the field, the wielder can use it to start a remoter missile that he/she can then pilot from a distance through a mounted camera! The remoter view highlights all targets with markers, and has decent maneuverability overall. A "Gizmo" magazine can hold up to four missiles at once. 6. 'Plasmatron Mk. II' e-SMG ------------------- Yet another new rendition of an old, well-known high tech weapon: the "Mark II" of this plasma submachinegun has changed its own primary fire quite a bit, and totally enhanced its secondary one. The former is now projectile-based rather than hitscan, and always offers a good per-second damage ratio. The latter is unrecognizable from previous versions: after a short charge-up time, it now delivers an ultra-compressed accumulation of plasma energy that quickly erupts into a small meltdown cloud, whose effects are quite prolonged in time, and devastating for the surrounding area. 7. 'Gundaito' active enhancement blade ---------- Sometimes, the highest effectiveness in warfare can come from a seemingly old and outdated concept. Melee weaponry was commonplace during the Middle Age, and its use has decreased more and more throughout time, after the advent of gunpowder and (later) firearms. However, this sword is unlike anything seen before - it owes its name to the original function it was conceived for, serving as the main non-ranged weapon for high scale mech units ("Gundaito" being a portmanteau of "Gundam" and "Daito" from Japanese). To cut it short (no pun intended) this blade is enhanced by the flow of energy and has incredible, self-sustaining attack power. Through alternate attacking, its energy can be channeled for long distance, instant warping of the wielder through space - entire armies could be conquered by the use of this weapon only. And did we already mention that its power can slice projectile attacks in half? Inventory: --------- Medical Backpack: a portable first-aid kit that can be used exactly as needed - unused health points are still carried on for later consumption. Progressive Rucksack: a new, enhanced edition of UAC's special ammunition-carrying backpack, this rucksack keeps increasing the maximum-carriable ammo limits by 10% even after the first finding. Bot Marine Helper: unchanged from the original modification. System: ------ 'Immerse' dynamic view system by Joshua Hard 'Target Spy' foe health scanner \ 'Precise Crosshair' realistic pointing - by m8f 'DeathFlip' corpse simmetry randomizer / 'NashGore' blood and gore system by Nash Muhandes 'DamNums' damage display service by Xaser Acheron 'ZMovement' configurable movement engine by Ivory Duke 'kMiniMap' scoped level layout viewer by kodi 'GZHUD' status heads-up display by Gutawer 'MBlur' speed visualization effecting by PixelEater 'Ledge Climbing' player movement support by dodopod 'BD' foes' damage / death system by Agent Ash / Jekyll Grim Payne 'Footsteps' realistic sound detailing by Benjamin Moir Footnotes: (1) The suggested commandline for launching the modification is the following one (assumes that the modification has been decompressed in subdirectory 'RSL' of your (G)ZDOOM directory): (g)zdoom.exe -iwad \ -file RSL\rslredux.wad (if under GZDOOM, add option '+gl_nogl 1' to disable hardware rendering) (2) Do not forget to bind a key for weapon reload under 'Options > Customize Controls' in (G)ZDOOM. (3) Also, do not forget to bind a key for toggling crossbow scope - still under 'Options > Customize Controls' in (G)ZDOOM. (8) ("Gadgets; Included." only) To force unmorphing after expiration of the Dwarver power, type 'undwarf' in the console. (9) ("Gadgets; Included." only) You might also want to bind keys for Strife-style popup panes: all three are implemented, providing data about collected keys, character status and ammo/inventory storage. Go to 'Options > Customize Controls' in (G)ZDOOM. (A) Additionally, all addons include components of the gameplay experience that can be more or less deeply configured. Their configuration switches can be found straight under 'Options' in (G)ZDOOM. (B) The modification is compatible with the following IWADs: The Ultimate DOOM, DOOM 2, Final DOOM.
