20SQR.ZIP contains the 'zipped' files of 20-Squares v1.0s, a Windows shareware version of an Egyptian board game that is often found in tombs on the other side of the ancient Senet boards. Its Egyptian name is lost in antiquity and is known today by archaeologists only as 'The 20 Squares Game'. 20-Squares v1.0s is the 2nd in a series of ancient Egyptian games for Windows. The first in the series was Senet v1.0s. As with the Senet game, I have been very grateful to have had the help of W. J. Tait in keeping 20-Squares as authentic as the archaeological record will permit. The game features stunning images, great game sounds, original MIDI background score, and more MummyFacts (tm) of ancient Egypt. It is easy to learn, easy to play, teaches much about ancient Egypt, and is a lot of good fun besides! The shareware registration fee is $10 U.S. With Registration, you will get the registered version -- 20-Squares v1.0r -- with 256 color images, many more game sounds, and more than twice as many MummyFacts(tm). The only remaining question: Can you win the sacred scroll of Thoth or will you die buried alive in the sands of Neferkapta's tomb? 20-Squares v1.0s is written in Visual Basic 3.0 and thus requires VBRUN300.DLL to run. If you don't already have this DLL on your system, you'll need to download a copy from your favorite site (this site, the one you are reading this file on, probably has one -- usually as VBRUN300.ZIP or VB300.ZIP, etc. ). One of the files -- README.TXT -- zipped within 20SQR.ZIP contains full install instructions, and information on contacting me in case of trouble. Please give 20-Squares a try -- I think you will enjoy it!
